“Thanks to McMain we work increasingly efficient”

Numerous (local) governments make use of McMain. One such case is Provincie Groningen, where the department Building & Material embraced McMain almost 20 years ago. We are talking with the enthusiastic Peter Doornbosch, who works with McMain every day as equipment manager.

If anyone values the recording of reparations and maintenance, it is the government. Governments are, fully justified, under serious scrutiny. In mid 2018, there was the collapse of the bridge in Italy: you could not come up with a better example of a doom scenario for every (local) government. That is partly the reason that McMain forms the digital home base of maintenance for many governments. Provincie Groningen is no different. They have been using McMain since 2001. So the most northern province is one of the customers that have been with us since day one.

Started with McMain after centralization

In 2014, Peter Doornbosch grew from the workshop to equipment manager. From this capacity, he is responsible for the procurement and maintenance of equipment, the workshop and his technicians and, moreover, the location management of all external locations that the province knows. “In 2001 our whole way of working changed and many activities were centralized. I was already working in the workshop by then. One of our priorities at the time already was to get the maintenance to the next level.”

Significant added value

“Everyone in the province is convinced of the importance of a system like McMain. That, in combination with the fact that we have been using it for so long, made sure that we have recorded a whole host of information. That has as advantage that even the complete financial management is stored there, even the replacement costs, investments and hours.” Full of pride, Doornbosch talks about a situation where McMain has significant added value. “In a period in which the amount of FTEs could barely be increased, we were the only department where a new colleague could be added. Because we could substantiate the need with facts and numbers thanks to all (financial) documentation and accountability.”

‘Increasingly efficient’

For some time now, the stock management of Provincie Groningen has also been moved to McMain. Through the work orders, parts can be ordered effortlessly. Doornbosch: “It is increasingly efficient, we spend fewer hours and therefore also less money. It does require discipline, even up to the provincial government house. That is where an invoice arrives with corresponding booking code. But it all starts with the correct work order that McMain turns out. Like this, human errors and incorrect operations can be avoided.”
